Bandish & Paintings to Depict Ramayana in ‘Ramgaan’ – An Audio-Visual Event on Saturday

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan & Infosys Foundation jointly organized the program & the program curated by renowned Singer & Artist Bhagyashree Godbole

Pune: An extraordinary artistic presentation titled ‘Ramgaan’, an Audio-Visual live concert, will offer the Puneites a unique combination of musical compositions (bandishis) and paintings based on episodes from the Ramayana, starting from the birth of Lord Rama to his coronation upon returning to Ayodhya after slaying Ravana. The event will unfold the essence of the Ramayana through fifteen carefully curated compositions and corresponding paintings.

Presented by Aavishkar Creations, this program is jointly organized by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and the Infosys Foundation as part of a cultural outreach initiative. It will be held on Saturday (May 24) at 5:30 PM at the Natu Auditorium of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, located on Senapati Bapat Road in Pune. This information was shared during a press conference by singer, painter, and the program’s curator, Bhagyashree Godbole. Also present were vocalist Dr. Sanika Goregaonkar, tabla artist Amit Joshi, and Anchor Dr. Sunil Deodhar.

Bhagyashree Godbole stated, “Through ‘Ramgaan’, various aspects of the Ramayana and the glory of Lord Rama will be presented in the form of melodious compositions. The program will be a confluence of devotion, artistry, and aesthetic beauty through story, music, and paintings. The emotional essence of these compositions will also be reflected in the accompanying artworks, offering the audience both a soulful auditory and a visually enriching experience.”

The musical performances will feature Bhagyashree Godbole, Pt. Amol Nisal, Dr. Sanika Goregaonkar, Sawani Datar, and Shweta Kulkarni. The narration will be provided by Dr. Sunil Deodhar, with instrumental support from Amit Joshi on tabla, Shubhada Athawale on harmonium, and Anjali Singade-Rao on violin.
