Pune to Host Grand Global Recitation of Navkar Mahamantra for World Peace on April 9

In an unprecedented show of spiritual unity, citizens from 108 countries including India will come together on Wednesday, April 9, for the collective recitation of the Navkar Mahamantra, a powerful chant rooted in the Jain tradition. The massive event, organized by Jain International Trade Organization (JITO), aims to promote world peace, harmony, and collective well-being.

The initiative, known as Vishwa Navkar Mahamantra Day, will be held simultaneously across the globe from 7:02 AM to 9:36 AM IST, with crores of people participating. The main Pune event will be held at S. P. College Ground, Tilak Road, where over 15,000 Punekars have already registered to participate.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the national-level gathering at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. His presence is expected to inspire citizens and spiritual seekers across the world to engage in this act of global peacebuilding.

The Pune press conference announcing the initiative was addressed by JITO Chairman Indra Kumar Chhajed, Chief Secretary Dinesh Oswal, Secretary Laxmikant Khabia, along with Pravin Chorbele and Abhijit Dungarwal. Other key figures present included Anil Bhansali and Advocate Vishal Shingvi.

“The world today is grappling with unrest, violence, and widespread chaos. In such turbulent times, the Navkar Mahamantra emerges as a universal solution — a mantra that promotes peace, morality, and non-violence,” said Indra Kumar Chhajed. He emphasized that when millions of people chant this 68-letter mantra in unison, it generates a wave of positive energy that can bring about transformation on a global scale. Unlike prayers tied to specific deities or faiths, the Navkar Mahamantra salutes the virtues of enlightened beings, making it a spiritual tool accessible to everyone — regardless of religion, caste, or nationality.

The Pune leg of the event has received strong support from prominent figures. Union Minister Muralidhar Mohol, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and respected leaders like Chandrakant Patil and Madhuri Misal have been invited to grace the occasion. “This is not just a religious gathering; it’s a global movement for peace,” said Pravin Chorbele. “We urge as many citizens as possible to be part of this spiritual wave and pray for the welfare of all living beings.”

According to Dinesh Oswal, the event will be broadcast live from over 6,000 locations across continents. More than 100 rituals will be performed simultaneously. The goal is to set a world record for the largest collective chanting of the Navkar Mahamantra — a feat that underscores the universality of its message. “The recitation is not limited to any community. It is a tribute to the highest values of life — purity, knowledge, and liberation,” explained Laxmikant Khabia.

In a world clouded by division, negativity, and stress, ancient spiritual practices are gaining renewed relevance. The Navkar Mahamantra, deeply rooted in Jain philosophy, stands out because it is not directed toward a single god or doctrine. Instead, it honors those who have achieved spiritual awakening and encourages ethical living, inner peace, and self-discipline. By encouraging global participation in this event, JITO seeks to demonstrate how ancient wisdom can serve as a bridge to modern-day challenges — from mental health issues to geopolitical unrest.

With active participation from spiritual leaders, politicians, celebrities, and global citizens, this initiative promises to spark a worldwide conversation about unity, compassion, and inner transformation. As Pune gears up for this historic event, the city not only becomes a hub of spiritual activity but also a beacon of hope in a fractured world.

For those interested in joining the collective recitation, participation is open to all — no matter one’s faith or background. As the chants echo across countries, the message is clear: peace begins within.
