Pune: “The common man looks to the legislature with the hope that their issues will be resolved and decisions will be made in their interest. Hence, public representatives should use their position to solve people’s problems and bring positive changes in their lives,” said Prof. Ram Shinde, Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. He made these remarks at a felicitation event organized by MLC Yogesh Tilekar.
Prof. Ram Shinde was felicitated upon his election as the Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. The event, held at the ISKCON temple hall, was organized by residents of Kondhwa Budruk and associations of Karjat-Jamkhed and Karmala residents. This initiative was spearheaded by MLC Yogesh Tilekar. The ceremony saw the presence of notable dignitaries, including former corporator Ranjana Tilekar, Manisha Kadam, Vrushali Kamthe, corporator Anil Yeole, Satish Markad, Tushar Kadam, senior police inspector Vinay Patankar, Sanjay Bhosale from ISKCON temple, and local leaders like Veershen Jagtap.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Ram Shinde reflected on his journey, emphasizing his unwavering dedication to the people. “Despite my defeat in the elections, the party entrusted me with this topmost post. It is a great honor. While managing the house, I firmly stand with the members who raise people’s issues. Yogesh Tilekar and I lost in the assembly elections, but our leader Devendra Fadnavis and the party allowed us to work for the people. If your intentions are clean, pure, and sensitive towards the people, justice will be served.”
He further addressed the challenges they faced, stating, “We were defeated through conspiracies, but we chose not to retreat. Being people from among the masses, the party respected us. Yogesh Tilekar passionately raised the concerns of his constituency and the state in the Council. Because of his follow-ups, meetings have already been scheduled, and within the next 15 to 20 days, the equal water supply issue and the Katraj-Kondhwa road issue will be resolved. Mathadi workers will not face injustice. If amendments are needed in the bill, they will be made through discussion.”
Expressing his pride, Yogesh Tilekar said, “It is a proud moment for all of us that someone from a humble background has become the Chairman of the Legislative Council. While serving you, I can voice your issues strongly because Shinde Saheb now presides over the Council. I have always learned from his work. His contribution to turning Ahmednagar into ‘Ahilyanagar’ is significant. He works with the ideals of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar. His initiative in developing Chondi is noteworthy. Shinde is carrying forward the legacy of the Holkar family.”
Tilekar emphasized the faith the party and leadership have in Shinde’s abilities, adding, “The organization and leadership have shown immense faith in him. This felicitation by close ones will energize us further. The duo of Devendra Fadnavis and Prof. Ram Shinde will give Maharashtra a new direction. With your support, the issues of Katraj and Kondhwa will soon be resolved.”
The event saw several prominent figures sharing their thoughts. Sanjay Bhosale and Bhushan Nahata spoke on the significance of Shinde’s leadership. Gokul Barkade gave the introduction, Amar Hajare hosted the event, Veershen Jagtap expressed gratitude, and the citation was read by Ashwini Kamthe.
The felicitation of Prof. Ram Shinde was more than just a ceremonial event; it was a reaffirmation of leadership that values people’s voices. With assurances of resolving key local issues such as the Katraj-Kondhwa road problem and water supply concerns, the people of Maharashtra can expect proactive governance. As public representatives like Shinde and Tilekar emphasize accountability, the hope is that Maharashtra will move toward more people-centric governance, ensuring the common man’s issues remain at the forefront of legislative action.
