Prasanna Kumar D elected president of ICAI for 2026–27

PUNE: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has elected CA Prasanna Kumar D as its president and CA Mangesh Pandurang Kinare as vice-president for the 2026–27 term. The new council was constituted at a meeting held in New Delhi.

Prasanna Kumar, the 74th president of ICAI, has over four decades of professional experience since qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1984. He has served the institute in multiple leadership roles, including chairing key committees and representing ICAI on several government and regulatory panels. During his tenure as vice-president in 2025–26, the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund recorded strong performance, reflecting enhanced member participation and welfare initiatives.

Vice-president Mangesh Kinare, currently in his third term on the ICAI Central Council, brings more than 33 years of experience in accounting, auditing, taxation and corporate governance. He previously headed the Professional Development Committee and has represented ICAI on national and international bodies. Known for his expertise in GST and professional ethics, Kinare is also a frequent speaker at professional forums.

The newly elected leadership is expected to focus on strengthening professional standards, expanding global engagement, and enhancing member services in the coming term.
