Pune, April 10: In a proud moment for Pune’s academic landscape, MIT Art, Design and Technology University (MIT-ADT), nestled in the scenic Vishwarajbaug, Loni-Kalbhor, has been conferred with an ‘A’ grade (CGPA 3.11 on a 4.0 scale) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The recognition, granted for a period of five years, is a testament to the university’s unwavering commitment to excellence in education, research, and community outreach — and that too, in its very first accreditation cycle.
Speaking at a press conference held on campus, Prof. Dr. Sunita Mangesh Karad, Executive Director of MIT-ADT University, called the NAAC ‘A’ grade “a matter of pride and reflection of academic excellence and institutional quality.”
She added, “This milestone is not just a recognition of our hard work, but also an encouragement to set new benchmarks in higher education.”
Also present at the press interaction were Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rajesh S., Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Ramchandra Pujeri, Dr. Mohit Dubey, Registrar Dr. Mahesh Chopde, and several senior faculty members, all of whom shared insights into the rigorous NAAC assessment process and the university’s progressive approach to education.
The NAAC peer team visited MIT-ADT University from February 10 to 12, 2025, and evaluated the institution on parameters such as:
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajesh S. explained that the university’s emphasis on skill-based, interdisciplinary education and its alignment with the New Education Policy (NEP) played a crucial role in securing this prestigious grade. “The NAAC team especially appreciated our strong industry linkages, proactive implementation of NEP guidelines, and the wide spectrum of academic offerings we provide to students,” he said.
Registrar Dr. Mahesh Chopde paid tribute to the founding vision behind MIT-ADT, acknowledging the pioneering work of Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, who established Maharashtra’s first private engineering college in 1984.
“Prof. Karad foresaw the rising demand for quality private technical education decades ago. That foresight led to the creation of MIT-ADT University in 2015 — an institution built not just on technical excellence, but one that blends art, design, and innovation in a truly interdisciplinary fashion,” said Dr. Chopde.
The campus itself carries a touch of history, built on the land that once hosted Vishwarajbaug, a retreat closely linked to Bollywood legend Raj Kapoor.
MIT-ADT stands out for its one-of-a-kind academic portfolio, offering programs in:
This wide array of offerings has helped the university build a distinctive identity, one that blends tradition with modernity.
The institution’s rising global footprint is further supported by its QS World University Ranking (band 151–200) and commendable NIRF ranking — both of which affirm MIT-ADT’s status as a world-class center for learning and research.
Prof. Dr. Mangesh T. Karad, Executive President of MIT-ADT University, summed up the university’s achievement with a note of pride:
“The impressive QS World University Ranking, NIRF performance, and now the ‘A’ grade from NAAC — all in such a short time — are feathers in our cap. Our students are shining on global platforms, and their success is a living testament to the educational quality we strive for.”
This latest accreditation places MIT-ADT University among the top-rated private universities in India, boosting its credibility for future students, industry collaborators, and international partners alike. With a focus on innovation, experiential learning, and inclusive education, the university is expected to attract even more talent from across the country and beyond.
As Pune continues to rise as a major educational hub, institutions like MIT-ADT are redefining what modern higher education in India can achieve — proving that with the right vision and values, excellence is not just a goal, but a standard.
