Goyal Family’s Noble Contribution to Healthcare: Dialysis Machine Donated to Lions Club Eye Foundation Hospital

Pune | Staff Reporter
In a heartwarming gesture of community service, the Goyal family has donated an advanced dialysis machine to the Lions Club Eye Foundation Hospital located at Mitramandal Chowk, Pune. This generous act has been dedicated to the memory of the late Shri Jayprakash Goyal, founder of the Brotherhood Foundation, as a tribute to his lifelong commitment to humanitarian service.

A Tribute with Purpose: Fulfilling a Vision

In a simple yet emotionally powerful ceremony held on the hospital premises, the machine was officially inaugurated and dedicated to patient care in the presence of Geeta Jayprakash Goyal, Atul Goyal, and Amit Goyal. The family performed a ritual offering before the machine was formally handed over for medical use.

Speaking on the occasion, Geeta Goyal said,

“It was Jayprakashji’s dream that no one should suffer due to lack of medical treatment. This machine is a step towards making that vision a reality.”

Community Leaders Join in Support

The event witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities from the Lions Club and the Agrawal community. Notable attendees included Lion Rajendra Muchhal, Vijay Dangra, Lion Vijay Sarda, Lion Rajesh Agrawal (District Governor Elect), PID Narendra Bhandari, Rajendra Goyal, Vijay Jaju, Deepak Kudale, Bipin Seth, Freddy Godrej, R. K. Shah, Neeraj Kudale, Sanjay Agrawal, and Pawan Bansal, among others.

Their collective support underlined the significance of public-private collaboration in improving healthcare access, especially for underprivileged patients in Pune.

More Families Step Forward

The spirit of giving did not end there. Inspired by the initiative, Shri Ramniwas Chetaram Agrawal announced the donation of another dialysis machine. Additionally, the families of Tanay Manoj Agrawal and Smt. Shakuntala Dwarkaprasad Bansal also pledged one machine each.

This chain of contributions reflects a growing movement within Pune’s civic-minded citizens to ensure essential healthcare facilities are accessible to all.

Lions Club Expands Healthcare Reach

Lion Rajesh Agrawal, District Governor Elect, shared impressive statistics about the hospital’s impact.

“The hospital now operates eight dialysis machines and treats between 800 to 1,000 patients every month at highly subsidized rates. Two more machines will soon be added.”

He also highlighted the broader work of Lions Clubs in the region. Across Pune, Nashik, and Ahmednagar districts, over 113 dialysis machines are currently serving thousands of needy patients. In addition to that, the Lions Club runs 17 educational institutions, performs over 4,000 eye surgeries annually, and operates pathology labs, diabetic care units, and vision centers.

Plans are also underway to expand services in areas like Kharadi and Pimpri-Chinchwad, further strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in and around Pune.

A Model of Giving Back

The Goyal family’s act of generosity has been widely applauded by all dignitaries and community leaders present at the event. Their donation not only addresses a critical need but also sets a powerful example of how individuals and families can make a lasting impact in their communities.

As Pune continues to grow as a metropolitan hub, such efforts remind us that compassion and civic responsibility are vital to sustainable development. The Lions Club Eye Foundation Hospital, with the support of donors like the Goyals, is becoming a beacon of affordable and accessible healthcare in the city.
