Pune, May 13, 2025 –“An artwork lives far longer than the artist. History remembers contribution, not commerce,” said renowned Marathi film actor Santosh Juvekar, addressing students at the grand opening of ‘Kaari-2025’, the largest annual festival of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Media, Design, and Architecture at MIT Art, Design and Technology University (MIT-ADT), Pune.
The event saw an enthusiastic gathering of young creatives, faculty members, and industry veterans. Present on the occasion were MIT-ADT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rajesh S., Registrar Prof. Dr. Mahesh Chopde, Dean Dr. Milind Dhoble, Chief Coordinator Dr. Mukta Avachat, and Coordinator Dr. Viraj Kamble, among others.

Santosh Juvekar, known for his grounded persona and strong cinematic performances, shared a passionate message aimed at budding artists:
“Don’t chase celebrity status. Nurture the artist within you till the end. Real peace and fulfillment lie in contribution, not in commercial success.”
He emphasized that while many refer to themselves as ‘applied’ or ‘fine’ artists, it is more important to be a true ‘kaari’—a creator, someone deeply connected with their art.
“Art is what defines us as human. It stays with us till our last breath. The love for art is what makes life meaningful,” he said.

Veteran artist Suhas Bahulkar, who graced the event, elaborated on the meaning behind the word ‘Kaari’:
“‘Kaari’ is about creating something novel—be it a poem, a painting, a film, a photograph, or even technology. The MIT-ADT campus itself is a living museum of creativity.”
He added that he had long dreamed of witnessing all art forms—Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Media, Design, and Architecture—coming together under one roof. “This dream has come true through ‘Kaari-2025’,” he expressed with joy.
Bahulkar also praised the university’s commitment to arts-focused education, stating,
“MIT-ADT’s support for artistic exploration is noteworthy. In today’s fast-paced world, their approach of giving art its due importance is commendable.”
In a moment of pride and honor, Suhas Bahulkar was felicitated with the ‘Vishwarambh Kala Puraskar’ for his invaluable contributions to the field of art. The award was presented by Dr. Vinod Shah, renowned physician and social worker, along with Dr. Swati Karad-Chate, Trustee of MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions.
The award ceremony was emotionally charged, as speakers highlighted Bahulkar’s lifetime of artistic excellence and mentorship.
“‘Vishwarambh’ itself symbolizes the birth of something extraordinary,” said Dr. Swati Karad-Chate. “This award is inspired by the vision of Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, whose creations—the world’s largest Peace Dome and Vishwarajbaug—are themselves unparalleled works of art.”
The inaugural ceremony also included the release of two noteworthy books:
Both works were launched at the hands of the dignitaries, further elevating the academic and cultural richness of the festival.
‘Kaari-2025’ stood out not just as a college fest, but as a vibrant confluence of creativity, culture, and conscious expression. From thought-provoking performances and installations to interactive sessions and exhibitions, the festival offered a platform for students to voice their individuality.
With powerful words from thought leaders and the honoring of artistic legacies, MIT-ADT University’s Kaari-2025 has reinforced its role as a nurturing ground for young visionaries.
