A Marathi film that brings an untold personal story to life, with deep roots in Maharashtra’s soil
Pune: The much-anticipated Marathi film ‘Paivatichi Saavli’ (The Shadow of the Footpath) is all set to release across Maharashtra on May 23, bringing to audiences an emotionally rich narrative of hardship, hope, and self-discovery.
Directed and written by Munnavar Shamim Bhagat, the film is presented by Meena Shamim Films and distributed by Chandrakant Vispute of Akhat Distribution. The music has been composed by Amit Anil Biswas, son of the legendary Bollywood composer Anil Biswas. A trailer launch was recently held in Mumbai in the presence of noted industry personalities and members of the creative team.
A Story Rooted in Reality
The film chronicles the life of a struggling writer—one who has lost hope and is drowning in despair. Set in a drought-prone village, the story explores the lives of locals who strive to survive without adequate water, and how this harsh reality intertwines with the inner turmoil of the protagonist. As water becomes a metaphor for hope and renewal, the film highlights both environmental and emotional droughts.
The cast includes Vije Bhatia, Shaalvi Shah, Revathi Iyer, Prasad Mali, and Sheetal Bhosale, who bring authenticity and emotional depth to their roles.
“It Reflects My Own Journey” – Director’s Insight
Speaking about the film, director Munnavar Shamim Bhagat said:
“The story is very personal. It reflects not only the writer’s emotional journey but also sheds light on a community forgotten by society. The longing for water, the thirst for recognition, and the silent battles we all fight—this film brings it all together. Many viewers will likely see parts of their own lives reflected here.”
He added, “While it’s a regional story, it’s also universal. Whether you’re from Pune, Nagpur, or any corner of Maharashtra, this film will strike a chord.”
A Film for Every Maharashtrian
‘Paivatichi Saavli’ is more than just a film—it’s a tribute to perseverance, to the power of storytelling, and to the rural spirit of Maharashtra. With its authentic setting, touching music, and layered performances, the film is expected to resonate strongly with audiences, especially those who appreciate socially driven narratives.
The team urges audiences to watch the film in theatres and support meaningful regional cinema that brings forward unheard voices and real-life struggles.
