Sadhu Vaswani Mission Joins Hands with Suvarnayug Tarun Mandal for Free Prosthetic Limb Distribution Camp in Pune
PUNE – In a remarkable act of community service, the Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Public Ganpati Trust, in collaboration with Suvarnayug Tarun Mandal, successfully organized a free artificial limb distribution camp under its flagship ‘Jai Ganesh Rugnaseva Abhiyan’. Held at the Decoration Department ground opposite the famous Sanas Maidan, the initiative benefitted 103 differently-abled individuals from across Maharashtra.
The event was organized in association with the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Pune, a long-time partner in the Trust’s health and humanitarian projects.
International Scientists Witness Social Impact in Action
Adding prestige to the occasion, the camp was attended by eminent international scientists — Dr. Sabine Curatoli from Switzerland and Dr. David Polido from Spain — both affiliated with Oxford University. Notably, these scientists played a crucial role in the development of the Covishield vaccine during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before participating in the camp, the scientists paid a visit to the revered Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple, where they learned about the Trust’s legacy and ongoing social initiatives.
“We are grateful for the warm hospitality extended to us here,” said Dr. David Polido. “The ongoing efforts for the upliftment of society are deeply admirable, and we are honored to be a part of this meaningful initiative.”
Transforming Lives: A Mother Shares Her Story
Among the beneficiaries was Suman Margale, a mother who shared her heartfelt experience:
“My daughter was unable to walk. Through this camp, she received a walking aid after a thorough medical checkup. This has given us new hope. I’m thankful to the Trust for making this possible.”
Jai Ganesh Rugnaseva Abhiyan: A Mission with Impact
Mahesh Suryawanshi, Treasurer of the Trust, emphasized the far-reaching impact of the Jai Ganesh Rugnaseva Abhiyan:
“Through this campaign, we provide various health and support services to patients. Today, we distributed prosthetic hands, legs, crutches, and more. So far, over 6,800 patients have benefited from artificial limbs provided through our camps, significantly improving their quality of life.”
Dignitaries Grace the Event
The event saw the presence of key figures from both the Trust and the Mission:
Sundar Vaswani – General Manager, Sadhu Vaswani Mission
All dignitaries praised the smooth execution of the camp and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such impactful efforts.
A Community-Driven Vision for Inclusive Growth
By offering free prosthetic limbs to those in need, the Dagdusheth Ganpati Trust and its partners continue to stand as beacons of compassion and community-driven development. Initiatives like these reaffirm that true devotion goes beyond rituals and translates into service that touches lives in tangible, meaningful ways.
This latest outreach under the Jai Ganesh Rugnaseva Abhiyan is yet another example of how faith-based organizations can serve as powerful engines for social change, health equity, and inclusive growth in urban India.
